Origin & Traceability
Sourced from India's Principal Turmeric Growing & Trading Regions
Geographic Origin
Sourced from India's major turmeric belts — Sangli & Hingoli (Maharashtra), Erode (Tamil Nadu, GI-tagged), and Nizamabad (Telangana). Maharashtra leads national turmeric powder exports by state volume (~₹426 Cr across 20+ districts). Erode turmeric commands a premium for exceptionally high curcumin content (5%+) — the preferred origin for high curcumin turmeric for pharma and nutraceutical buyers. Heavy metal (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) tested per batch; HACCP certified; organic-certified stock available on request.
Farmer Partnership
Sourced from established farming and processing networks across India's turmeric belt — farm-to-port traceability with full documentation chain.
Harvest Cycle & Availability
When It's Harvested
Turmeric has the longest crop cycle in our range — 8–9 months from planting to harvest. After harvest, rhizomes are boiled, sun-dried, polished, and milled. New-season stock (Feb–Apr) gives the freshest curcumin content; dried/powdered turmeric stores well 12+ months. Steam sterilised, non-ETO stock available for EU and UK buyers.
Kharif
Single long-cycle crop — rhizomes planted April–June with monsoon onset, harvested January–March the following year. An 8–9 month growing cycle.

Jan–Mar
100%
12+ months (dry milled)
What This Means for You
- Freshest curcumin content and best pricing: Feb–Apr, right after new crop is cured and milled
- Dried/powdered turmeric stores well (12+ months) — year-round supply isn't the issue; curcumin degrades slowly with age and light, so ask for the milling date on older stock
- Given the long single-season cycle, plan larger contracts further ahead than for shorter-cycle crops
Secure Your Allocation
New crop milling begins February. Book ahead for freshest curcumin content and new-season pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Buyer Questions, Answered
Three grades: Standard (2–3% curcumin) for food manufacturing and blending, Premium (3–5%) for functional food and supplement applications, and High-Curcumin (5%+, Erode/Alleppey-type) for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturers who specify curcumin as an active ingredient. Curcumin content is tested per batch by UV spectrophotometry and the report accompanies every shipment. Share your target curcumin %, end use, and whether you need USP/EP-compliant test methodology — we'll match the right grade.
Indian turmeric has a documented industry history of lead adulteration (lead chromate was historically used to enhance colour). We test every batch for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury at an accredited lab — results stated against EU, US FDA, and WHO limits. We provide the heavy metal test report proactively with every shipment. The US FDA has issued import alerts on Indian turmeric for lead — we treat this as our most important compliance document, not an afterthought.
Erode (Tamil Nadu) carries a GI tag and is known for exceptionally high curcumin (5%+) — premium-priced, preferred for pharma and supplement use. Sangli and Hingoli (Maharashtra) produce the largest national volume — slightly lower curcumin, competitive pricing, preferred for food-grade and blending. Nizamabad (Telangana) grows the Nizamabad Bulb variety, valued for high colour and aroma. We source from all three belts and can blend to a specified curcumin target.
Yes. The EU requires non-ETO (non-ethylene oxide) spices — steam sterilisation (autoclave method) is the EU-acceptable alternative. We supply steam sterilised turmeric powder with microbiological test reports confirming TPC, Salmonella, and E. coli counts within EU limits. Specify 'non-ETO, steam sterilised' on your enquiry — a small premium applies over unsterilised product.
Yes. Under the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (effective July 2026), Indian spices including turmeric enter the UK at reduced or zero tariff, down from the pre-FTA MFN rate of ~4%. This makes Indian turmeric more price-competitive versus competing origins for UK food manufacturers and spice blenders. We supply the Certificate of Origin in the FTA-required format — specify 'India-UK FTA' on your enquiry.
Standard MOQ: 1×20ft FCL. Sample orders of 0.5–2kg available for first-time buyers; cost adjusted against your first bulk order. Payment for first orders: 60% advance + 40% against BL copy. Terms improve progressively — 50/50 on second order, 40/60 on third. LC at sight available for established buyers.
