Origin & Traceability
Sourced from Guntur — India's Largest Chilli Market
Geographic Origin
Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh — India's largest chilli market, with 95.42% of the state's dried chilli export value in 2025 concentrated here. Three export-grade varieties trade through Guntur: Teja (S17, highest heat, oleoresin extraction), Sannam (S4, food manufacturing default), Byadgi (high ASTA color, low heat for color extraction). Sudan dye contamination history means import authorities screen Indian dried chilli at elevated frequency — test reports per lot addressing aflatoxin, Sudan dye, and ETO compliance are the required standard for Indian dried red chilli exports.
Farmer Partnership
Sourced from farming networks across the Guntur belt — farm-to-port traceability with full documentation chain.
Harvest Cycle & Availability
When It's Harvested
Rabi-adjacent crop in Andhra Pradesh — dried chilli is sown July–August, harvested December–February, then sun-dried through March. The post-harvest drying period (20–30 days) is where aflatoxin risk and ASTA color quality diverge between suppliers. Improperly dried chilli has higher mold risk; properly sun-dried and stored chilli holds quality 12+ months. EU RASFF compliance for Indian dried chilli requires a test report per shipment addressing aflatoxin, Sudan dye, and ETO residues.

Frequently Asked Questions
Buyer Questions, Answered
Teja (S17): highest heat (80,000–100,000 SHU), thin skin, low ASTA color — preferred for oleoresin extraction and high-heat spice blends. Guntur Sannam (S4): medium heat (25,000–40,000 SHU), moderate ASTA 80–100 — the standard export workhorse for food manufacturing. Byadgi: low heat, very high ASTA color (120+), dark red — preferred for colour extraction and paprika-style applications. Tell us your end use (heat, colour, or oleoresin) and we'll recommend the right variety and grade.
Indian dried red chilli has appeared on the EU RASFF rapid alert system for two persistent issues: aflatoxin contamination (mold from improper drying or storage) and Sudan dye adulteration (illegal synthetic colorant added to enhance ASTA value). We address both proactively: aflatoxin B1 tested per batch at an NABL-accredited lab; Sudan dye I–IV tested for all EU-bound shipments. Both reports accompany every EU consignment. We do not use or source from suppliers who use any colour adulteration.
ASTA color: standard 80–100 (Sannam), premium 100–120 (selected Sannam), high-colour 120+ (Byadgi). Volatile oil: typical 1–2% range — tested per batch. If your spice blend or oleoresin specification requires a minimum ASTA color or volatile oil floor, share it with your enquiry and we'll confirm the available grade and pricing.
Yes. The EU bans ETO (ethylene oxide) as a post-harvest sterilant — Indian chilli shipments have been flagged for ETO residues on the RASFF system. We do not use ETO treatment. For EU buyers, we supply: non-ETO declaration, pesticide MRL test report (GCMS, EC 396/2005 limits), aflatoxin + Sudan dye test reports, and phytosanitary certificate. Specify 'EU-bound, non-ETO' on your enquiry.
Standard MOQ: 1×20ft FCL. Sample orders of 1–5kg available; cost adjusted against first bulk order. Payment: 60% advance + 40% against BL copy. Terms improve — 50/50 on second, 40/60 on third. LC at sight for repeat buyers.
Quality Assurance
Our Commitment
Every dried chilli shipment undergoes ASTA color measurement, Scoville heat testing, and aflatoxin screening before dispatch. Sudan dye testing performed proactively for EU-bound shipments — addressing the documented compliance issue for Indian chilli.
